MADRASA ISLAMIA KUJHWA

A RARE EXAMPLE OF SECULARISM DEMONSTRATED THROUGH AN EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION

According to Islam, love for motherland is a form of worship and loyalty to home - land is a sign of a true Muslim. It is Prophet Mohammadís teaching that loyalty for homeland is an integral part of a Muslim faith. Islam teaches us to carry the message of peace, and equality amongst human beings.

As a Caliph and a ruler Hazrat Ali said that he promises safety and security of life & property, honor, social status and religious freedom to Non-Muslims and they should not be differentiated and looked down upon. They should be allowed to practice their religion and trades freely and openly. He also emphasized the importance of education so that everybody could understand and implement these messages of Islam.

Madrasas are religious institutions of Muslim community which impart these messages of Islam to children attending these religious institutions. Madrasa Islamia Kujhwa is one such institute which endeavors to communicate these teachings of Islam.

MADRASA ISLAMIA KUJHWA was established in 1921 by JANAB WAZEER HASAN SAHEB in his own house in Kujhwa. Till 1984 this MADRASA was running in Mosque, Imambara and even in rented house. It had not an inch of its own land what to think about its own building. From 1921 to 1984, JANAB SYED AKHTAR HUSSAIN, JANAB MOZAFFAR AHSAN, JANAB SYED AFTAB ALI, JANAB DR. SYED MUSI RAZA and JANAB SYED LETAFAT HUSSAIN ALIAS AKBARI were the Secretary of this MADRASA.

During the year 1984 there was turmoil in this religious institution. The Secretary was forced to resign.

On 24thJune1984 Professor Syed Sami Askari took over the charge of this MADRASA as its Secretary.

Till 1984 this MADRASA was recognized by the Government of Bihar upto WASTANIA STATUS (MIDDLE STANDARD). But due to personal interest of Professor Sami Askari, this MADRASA was upgraded to FAZIL STANDARD (M.A. STANDARD) by Government of Bihar in the year 1986.

The next very important decision of Prof. Askari was the formation of KUJHWA EDUCATION SOCIETY & CHARITABLE TRUST in the year 1992. The TRUST is REGISTERED with GOVERNMENT OF BIHAR under SOCIETY REGISTRATION ACT 21 (1860). Its Registration Number is 294-92. At present this MADRASA is GOVERNED by this TRUST.

Another intelligent decision of Prof. Askari was to get Registration of this MADRASA with the GOVERNMENT OF INDIA under FOREIGN CONTRIBUTION REGULATION ACT 1996, REGISTRATION NUMBER 031350001, MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS, GOVT. OF INDIA, NEW DELHI.

After getting this REGISTRATION, this MADRASA became legally entitled to receive funds from different parts of the world.

Professor Sami Askari came in contact with WORLD FEDERATION LONDON during the year 1989. On the invitation of Prof. Askari, the President of WORLD FEDERATION of K.S.I.J., JANAB ASGAR ALI M.M. JAFER alias MULLA ASGHAR SAHEB came to KUJHWA from London on 29th October 1989. The visit of MULLA SAHEB was the turning point in the history of MADRASA ISLAMIA KUJHWA.

In spite of best opposition, Prof. Sami Askari changed THIS PURELY RELIGIOUS INSTITUTION INTO A SECULAR INSTITUTION.

With the FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE OF WORLD FEDERATION OF KSIJ, LONDON, Prof. Sami Askari has constructed palatial building for the MADRASA which attracts the attention of every eye that passes across it.
